At least since about 1630 family de Boer lived in the region "Zaanstreek" in the village Oostzaan (NL), Jan de Boer's father Frederik de Boer moved with wife and children from Oostzaan (NL) to Landsmeer (NL) and later on to Amsterdam. Here Jan married Johanna Hillegonda Schenk and is their son Adrianus Frederik de Boer born too, who married Anna Agnieta Kramer. They got 8 children, one of them is Pieter Johannes de Boer, born in Amsterdam. The Schenk-family is traced back to 1780.

Ancestors of the Kramer-family are known from about 1733, they came from Huisduinen (NL) and moved to Amsterdam, Pieter Johannes Kramer was the father of Anna Agnieta Kramer. Jacob Stahlhöfer from Wittgert (DE) married Anna Agnieta van Dusseldorp in Amsterdam and was the father of their daughter Margaretha Johanna Stahlhöfer, she is the mother of Anna Agnieta Kramer.

The parents of Roland de Boer's mother, migrated from Germany to the Netherlands before WW-II. Family May was Jewish.
